Resetting storytellers

With performance in mind, it's essential to reset the collective counters to zero, by sharing the long-term objective and insisting above all on the daily goal. The groups are made up of different profiles, such as experienced players, understudies, leaders, promising youngsters and stars. The aim of this reset is to achieve a collective balance by motivating and remotivating each individual state of mind.

This can be difficult, as the individual feelings, beliefs and goals created by past or present status for each member of the group are different. It's important first to convey individual confidence and show that it's possible for everyone to change status, so that everyone can project themselves.

To instill collective confidence, it's essential to convey a sense of individual potential for development, by personally talking to each member of the group to get the best out of each of them. Qualities need to be valued with the right balance between personalities, without offending the egos that are part of human nature. The trickiest thing is to find the communication levers that will encourage each member to question his or her own beliefs and practices.

Relying on people who represent the group's values and identity can also help federate a group, but this is tricky depending on the status, ambitions and sincerity of each individual. It is essential that the person in question has the desire to help the entity and the collective grow, before his or her own person.

It is also important to discuss all the different branches, spheres and criteria that lead to the success of the collective objective, so that the requirement is general and not quantified to a particular individual or area of activity.

All this reminds me of the role of a father, which involves making the right decisions, without trying to please everyone, but sometimes accepting that, for the good of everyone, you may not be appreciated. You have to realize that the answers to the questions, misunderstandings and frustrations that may arise from the choices and decisions you make will only come with time, even if you try to explain them in the best possible way.

Everyone has to concentrate on their role if the team is to perform well. Fairness, openness and honesty are needed to create healthy competition within the team. Finally, it's important to make each member feel useful, with recognition and appreciation, to get the best out of everyone.
